Anna + Dillon

Anna & Dillon’s Rocky Mountain National Park Elopement | A Full-Day Adventure in the Colorado Mountains

A serendipitous love story and an unforgettable elopement in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. Captured by Angie Whitney Photo - a heartfelt, nature-inspired celebration for two introverted souls who followed their hearts west.

Some love stories feel written in the stars - and sometimes, so do the ones that connect people beyond the couple themselves.

When Anna and Dillon reached out to me about photographing their elopement in Rocky Mountain National Park, I immediately recognized their names. Two years earlier, we’d met by chance at a small bar in Washington, D.C. - just a quick, passing connection that somehow left an impression on both sides.

As Anna later shared:

“We hired Angie for our 2024 elopement in Rocky Mountain National Park after a chance meeting 2 years prior at a bar in Washington, DC. I followed her on Instagram and loved her work, so when it came time to elope I reached out. It really felt like it was a meant-to-be relationship between photographer and couple.”

And that’s exactly how it felt - meant to be.

They flew all the way from D.C. to Colorado, trading city noise for the stillness of alpine air. Their day in Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) was simple, joyful, and full of laughter - just the three of us exploring, breathing in the crisp mountain air, and soaking up the magic of it all.

The day began with a soft chill, the peaks still wearing their morning mist. The quiet hum of nature surrounded the town of Estes, Colorado. Dillon and Anna took their time having a slow peaceful morning getting ready and preparing for their day. We drove into the park to the soft patter of rain the windshield. Every turn on the road revealed something new - a valley bathed in sunlight, wildflowers waving in the breeze, the sound of a creek somewhere nearby. We arrived at their special spot, Sprague Lake to find that the crowds had cleared out due to the rain. As they began their hike, Anna and Dillon held hands, talked softly, and laughed the kind of easy, genuine laughs that come when two people are fully at ease with one another. We walked as the sky softly shifted and the rain ceased. We reached the perfect viewpoint for the two of them to say their vows. It was secluded and Dillon and Anna felt like the only two people in the world, surrounded by wildflowers.

The Rocky Mountains stood like giants in the distance as they read their vows to one another. The rain came and went as they spent the next couple of hours exploring and then picnicking. All while I documented these quiet and beautiful moments.

They described it perfectly in their review:

“She completely understood what us introverts needed to feel comfortable and she nailed the laid back/nature vibe we were going for.”

That was my favorite part of the day - how natural everything felt. There was no pressure, no rush, no expectation of perfection. Just two people who loved each other deeply, surrounded by the quiet power of the mountains.

We spent the entire day together - beginning at Sprague lake then driving to several different viewpoint along the road that wound through the park and up to its peaks. Anna and Dillon wanted a safe space, a day that felt like an old friend was tagging along.

“Having Angie as our photographer was a highlight of our elopement. We not only love our photos but we love her!”

Those words mean the world to me - because it’s not just about the photos. It’s about the experience, the connection, and the memories we create along the way.

After a whole afternoon of scenic backdrops and genuine laughs, we headed to a local pub for Dillon and Anna to celebrate with their closest loved ones. Everyone gathered to toast to the happy couple, play corn hole, and eat brick oven fired pizza as the sun set.

Their Rocky Mountain National Park elopement was everything a wedding day should be - peaceful, personal, and perfectly theirs. From our first meeting years ago in D.C. to standing together beneath Colorado’s wild sky, it felt like we’d come full circle - three people connected by a shared love for adventure, authenticity, and moments that matter.

If you’re dreaming of a Rocky Mountain elopement filled with laughter, stillness, and the kind of beauty that only nature can provide - I’d love to help you craft your story. Let’s plan your perfect mountain day together.
